My casual investigation into Vanna 2000 led me to discover her roots, somewhat.
Manufacture by XTC, a now extinct company once based in Pit Meadows or Maple Ridge British Columbia.
To date I’ve seen two different body styles. The original body was more a class B style. Think of saddle bags on a typical van. Vanna 2000 was the class C evolution of the original clam shell fiberglass mold design. It was manufactured for 10 years or so. As far I know the company closed its doors in 1996. There are some manufacturing details that suggest the one pictured above may have been the last of the line.
I have seen many of both the class B and class C versions around on the Chevy and Dodge chassis. Only one Ford chassis model was ever built as far as I know. Also the only one I’ve seen in either class B or C without the XTC logo displayed on the body.
VANNA 2000
She was a custom special order. The fella that placed the order had just retired and bought it to go from Arizona to Salmon arm and back. The chassis is a Ford E350 powered by the 7.3 Power Stroke Turbo Diesel manufactured by International Truck.
The interior came equipped with double bed over the cab. The four person dinette that converts to a bed. Functional kitchen with sink, 3 burner propane stove, propane fridge. The bath area include sink, toilet and shower. The plumbing system is a propane suburban 6 gallon hot water with a 10 gallon fresh water tank. A propane furnace gave it all the comforts necessary for a three season three day tour.
His daughter inherited the vehicle and I bought it from her 2013. I paid $15’000 and the odometer read 280,000 klm
VANNA AND ME
I had been searching all over BC for months for the right RV. I found Vanna 5 minutes away from were I was living in Salmon Arm. Go figure.
I was bouncing around different job locations at the time. Sometimes in camp jobs, other times around the lower mainland. It was in no way practical or monetarily sensible to maintain a residence in Salmon Arm. I down sized and moved into Vanna.
